The smallness of the land mass and the inherent geographic remoteness of the islands prevent it from having rapid industrial growth. The Status of MSE are not encouraging mainly due to difficulties of non-availability of raw materials in the islands and transportation. However, small firms mainly dealing with manufacturing of coconut fibres, other value added coconut products, coconut oil production units, and desiccated coconut production units are available.

So far no sick units have been reported and hence rehabilitation of industries is not required.
